The cabinet has approved the establishment of an Office of the Ombudsman for People with Disabilities, Disability Minister Alessandra Locatelli said on Wednesday.
"The Ombudsman will be a point of reference for many citizens, an operational body with its own autonomy and independence for the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, incompliance with the UN Convention" on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, adopted by the General Assembly in December 2006, said Locatelli.
The disability ombudsman's office will be operational from January 1, 2025.
