It's a government crisis in Sicily.
FdI has entrenched itself on the barricades after the rejection by the regional Parliament, this afternoon and thanks to ten snipers of the center-right (Lega and DC in the front row), of a law, defined as saving the ineligible, which would have "healed" the position of four deputies (three Melonians and one from the opposition) against whom trials are underway in the relevant courts following appeals presented by the first of the non-elected two years ago.
The law was quashed despite the presence of governor Renato Schifani in the chamber.
In reality, the game is more complex, because it fits in with the appointments of the managers of companies and hospitals, launched in the evening by the Schifani government, in the absence of the FdI councillors, engaged in a party summit and who deserted the meeting of the The executive is in controversy with the rest of the coalition after the stop to the protection of ineligibles.
For weeks, even within FdI, there has been a lively discussion between two internal branches over the choice of names, a confrontation that ultimately had repercussions on parliamentary work and the regulations on the calendar.
With the result that the protection against ineligibles, proposed by FdI, was scuttled, while the reform of the Provinces, with the reintroduction of direct voting despite the Delrio law still being in force, was sent back to the Institutional Affairs commission for "in-depth analysis" in compliance of a majority agreement, reached this morning at a coalition summit, coordinated by the governor: but which at this point is being questioned by the Melonians themselves, a reform which, however, is an integral part of President Schifani's government program.
The tension is therefore very high, not only in the government but also within the Brothers of Italy.
