Four years after Fai Rumore, which won the festival and shortly after became the anthem from the balconies of Italians in lockdown, Diodato returns to the Sanremo competition for the fourth time with Ti Muovi.

"I feel a bit of responsibility for a song that has become important for many people - says the singer-songwriter from Taranto -. I hope that Ti Muovi will also be welcomed in the same way, but there is no comparison between the two songs. Do There is noise, it's my song, I don't have to deal with it."

The song he is taking to the competition this year, he explains, "is part of a journey, I see it as a necessary point in my growth process".

A process that began ten years ago, when he went on stage at the Ariston for the first time, among the Nuove Proposte.

"Since then I think I have grown a lot, especially humanly. I believe that music is a process of knowledge, of personal study. Now I hope to face the festival with less anxiety and more tranquility and without that strange face that makes me smile when I look at it today ".

Ti Muovi, written and composed by Diodato himself, who also signs the artistic production with Tommaso Colliva, is a ballad - one of the few in this edition - which explores the emotions of the human soul, investigating the path of self-research .

"Participation in the festival started precisely from the creation of this song which deserves to be on that stage - explains Diodato, who would like to present and be introduced by friends, Negramaro or Mahmood above all -.

As always I start from the things that happen to me and that I try to tell in music: emotions were re-emerging within me that deserved to be addressed. Ti Muovi belongs to who I am at this moment in my life and tells more than other songs about my vision of music, of the way of making music, and also the personal will to open up, vibrate and free oneself more. To feel alive. In short, in this moment I accept myself more."

For the covers evening he chose to try his hand at Fabrizio De André, Amore che ordini, amore che vai, with the support of Jack Savoretti.

A song that already belongs to the artist's repertoire.

"I wanted to return to this song, partly to celebrate my journey into music, which began with that song which in my interpretation was chosen by Daniele Luchetti for the soundtrack of the film Anni Felici (from 2013, ed.). De André he taught me to write, with his delicate and incisive words at the same time."

That song shone a spotlight on the young Diodato "and it was probably what took me to Fazio's Sanremo festival the following year".

Superstitious or not, Diodato says he doesn't think about winning, "I'm not competitive at all", because "music and art don't involve competition. The only possible competition is the one with yourself, with what you want to tell and with being able to do it. Every form of art is a testimony, which we try to leave, of an experience."

As a tennis lover, having Jannik Sinner at the Ariston, officially invited by Amadeus, would be a great achievement, "but if he didn't come, because as he said he has to train, I would understand and admire him even more. Sinner is a beautiful example for many young people and not only. He is elegance, determination, humility, I believe he is good not only for tennis. Even if he doesn't come to Sanremo, we are ready to cheer for him in the next events."
