If the economic consequences of separations are documented for adults, this is less the case for younger people who suffer the consequences.
This gap has just been filled by a study carried out by INED and France Stratégie, the research institution attached to Matignon.
To measure the evolution of the standard of living of the minors concerned, the researchers worked - from a database of more than 750,000 children - on the journey of 36,000 children from five social categories, three years before and more than five years after the parental breakup.
Children's standard of living drops by 19% in the year of separation
This study, unveiled on Wednesday, indicates that children's standard of living drops by 19% on average in the year of the breakup.
