In recent weeks, the director of the General Security Service, in cooperation with the IDF and the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office in the Israel Police, an intelligence effort that led to the disclosure of a phenomenon that began before the war, in which Hamas operatives from the Gaza Strip used Jewish citizens of Israel, without their knowledge, as helpers for the transfer of shipments - with the purpose of the estimated activity being to train them to help in the transfer of explosives or weapons for the purpose of carrying out attacks against quality targets in Israel.
The activity was carried out by the operatives of the "Hegada Headquarters" - a body of the terrorist organization Hamas in the Gaza Strip, led and composed mostly of "Yeskat Shalit" deportees who come from IOSH, in the department known as the "Jobs Department". This department is believed to direct terrorist attacks against Israelis in And in Israel.
As part of the intelligence efforts, on 12/18/2023 IDF and Shin Bet forces raided the office of the Hamas department in the Gaza Strip and located computers and paperwork containing information about the terrorist infrastructures that operated against Israel even before the war.
One of the documents located by the IDF and the Shin Bet, in the offices of the Hamas department in the Gaza Strip, revealed information about connections that Hamas operatives from the Gaza Strip had with Jewish residents of the Jerusalem area, during the month of September 2023, and missions in the field of missions they were asked to carry out by Hamas operatives from the Gaza Strip in the territories of Israel and Yosh.
Later, information was revealed about additional Jews who were in contact with fake Facebook profiles operated by Hamas operatives from the "West Bank headquarters", while impersonating Israelis living abroad and looking for messengers to carry out various tasks throughout Israel for pay.
The Facebook profiles operated by Hamas were covered by both men and women, who posted ads to locate messengers in different regions of the country on Facebook groups dealing with occasional messengers.
After the beginning of the contact on Facebook, the contacts between the Jewish emissaries and Hamas continued through WhatsApp, when the officials in the Gaza Strip refuse to conduct telephone conversations in order not to reveal that they are terrorist agents on behalf of Hamas, and manage the contact only through correspondence.
As part of their operation, the Israelis were asked to carry out tasks including delivering shipments, receiving money, buying gifts and leaving them at various points, without coordinating a meeting with the recipient of the package.
Among the points where they were asked to leave the gifts - a synagogue, a cemetery and the doorsteps of private apartments throughout Israel.
On the basis of familiarization with the working method of the "Hegada Headquarters", it is estimated that the training of the Israelis for various missions is intended to be used in the future for the purpose of transferring closed packages containing weapons or cargo to threats in Israel or, alternatively, for the purpose of placing them in public or private sites in Israel that have been designated by Hamas as targets values for the attack.
The aforementioned raises the need for safe conduct on social networks as well as against requests from foreign parties, out of fear of exploiting this medium for the use of the enemy.
The security forces will continue their activities to thwart the activities of the terrorist organizations operating against Israeli targets, either directly or indirectly, and to expose any terrorist activity promoted and financed by them in the territories of the West Bank and Israel.
