Edp Energia Italia will power Ecologistic's activities with a solar energy system which will have a capacity of over 5 Mwp (megawatt peak) and will allow emissions to be reduced by over three thousand tonnes of Co2 per year.
This was announced in a press release from EDP Energia Italia (a division of the global services company that leads the energy transition in Europe, Asia Pacific, North America and South America and manages nine million customers around the world) explaining that it has signed with Ecologistic (an Italian company that operates in the field of eco-sustainable packaging for the fruit and vegetable sector) an agreement for the design, installation and maintenance of a photovoltaic system with the company's industrial plants in the province of Taranto.
With a total capacity of 5.1 MWp (peak megawatts), this installation will generate nearly 7 MWh (megawatt hours) per year.
This will allow Ecologistic to cover over 30% of its energy needs with renewable sources, with annual savings of over 1.5 million euros on the electricity bill.
The plant will also guarantee a reduction of over three thousand tonnes of Co2 emissions per year, equal to the carbon dioxide captured by almost 19 thousand trees, thus contributing to the decarbonisation of the region and further strengthening Ecologistic's positioning as a company oriented towards sustainability.
Since the end of November 2023, EDP Energia Italia has already signed contracts for almost 130 Mwp of solar energy in companies.
