Inning/Oberpfaffenhofen - The farmers' protest continues.

Before today's decision in the Bundestag, tractors are blocking the motorway entrances to the A96 in Inning and Oberpfaffenhofen.

So far, agricultural businesses have received part of the mineral oil tax back, as tractors and machines are mainly used in the fields and this is intended to maintain competitiveness with foreign countries.

But the agricultural diesel regulation could now be over, believes the farmers' association: This Wednesday, the general debate with Chancellor Olaf Scholz on the 2024 budget will take place in the German Bundestag and, according to the traffic light coalition, the refund for agricultural diesel should be abolished.

District chairman Georg Holzer from Diemendorf criticizes the federal government

“The federal budget should be filled with money from agriculture and we farmers will be left alone with the additional burdens,” said Starnberg district chairman Georg Holzer from Diemendorf.

Immediately before the decision in the Bundestag, a nationwide day of action will take place today, Wednesday, January 31st, in which the Bavarian Farmers' Association and the “Agriculture Connects Bavaria” association will also take part.

Across Bavaria, farmers have registered protests on motorway entrances.

Government proposals are out of the question for farmers from Starnberg too

In Inning and Oberpfaffenhofen, disruptions are also to be expected when entering and exiting the A96 motorway between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.

“Farmers have been protesting against additional burdens on local agriculture for weeks,” says Holzer.

“While a large part of the population supports our protests and many other sectors of the economy are taking to the streets with us to draw attention to current problems, the traffic lights have turned stubborn.

Our actions are a cry for help, this government is putting the future of local agriculture at risk.

We cannot and must not allow that!” In order to plug budget holes, the traffic light coalition wants to ask agricultural businesses to pay around one billion euros more per year by abolishing the agricultural diesel refund and the vehicle tax exemption.

After these violent protests, the vehicle tax exemption should be retained, but agricultural diesel should be gradually abolished by 2026.

“These proposals are absolutely out of the question; agricultural diesel must stay.

That’s why the protests continue,” says BBV President Günther Felßner.

Together with “Agriculture connects Bavaria”, the BBV has called for action.

The farmers' association also demands that regional biofuels be tax-exempt.
