Thinks it should be privatized" (01.09.2023) // Reichman University Spokesperson

The Minister of Defense believes that his professional past and his deep familiarity with the security and military system, both as a reporter and commentator as well as as a commander and fighter, will form the basis of the connection between the Gali IDF station and the audience of soldiers, and will contribute to the station's unique character as a leading media body and as a military unit, this following the recommendations of the committee headed by the Director General Ministry of Defense Major General (Res.) Eyal Zamir.

Tal will replace the journalist Danny Zaken who has served as acting commander of the station for the past year.

Tal's appointment as a permanent commander comes after two and a half years in which there was no permanent commander for the station.

The Minister of Defense thanked Dani Zaken for his work in the past year and wished great success to Tal Lev-Ram upon his election to the position.

Shlomo Karai, Minister of Communications and Member of Knesset from the Likud, came out against the appointment in his X account: "Unfortunately, it seems that the Minister of Defense who was elected by the Likud, and received a mandate from the right to be the Minister of Defense of the State of Israel, decided a long time ago to go in the opposite political direction. Appoint A distinctly left-wing man for the commander of Gali IDF in such a sensitive period, or one of the two straw candidates from the extreme left, instead of privatizing the station or making it exclusively military for the sake of the soldiers, without current affairs, or at the very least leaving an objective and unifying person like Dani Zaken, this is a shame and disgrace".

"And all this after Shirit Avitan Cohen and Maggie Taviv entered the airwaves of the IDF recently. Minister Gallant, you have no mandate to prevent fair communication from the public that elected you," he sharply concluded his words.
