Flood protection on the “Große Laine” is an important issue for the community of Jachenau.

The water permit is in progress and construction could begin this year.

Jachenau - A start to construction on flood protection on the Große Laine: As reported, this is on the wish list of Jachenau Mayor Klaus Rauchberger for the new year.

When asked by our newspaper, Dora Schulze, department head at the Weilheim Water Management Office responsible for the district, is “in good spirits” that this could succeed “with a little luck”.

Of course, the authority can only get started once the water law approval has been received from the Tölz district office.

At a discussion meeting in the fall with representatives of the water management office and the district office, all objections were gone through again, explains Dora Schulze.

Over Christmas, the authority responded to another “notice” from citizens about the plans.

The planning approval process is in progress

Now the water law notice, i.e. the building permit, is being prepared at the district office.

District office spokeswoman Sabine Schmid confirmed this when asked by our newspaper.

“The planning approval decision for water law approval is currently in progress,” she says.

She could not provide any information about when the decision would be ready.

She also points out that legal remedies can always be lodged against decisions.

“Construction usually only begins when there is legal certainty.”

As soon as the approval is available, the implementation planning will be completed, announces Dora Schulze.

“We are already pushing ahead with this.” In addition, the time at which construction begins also depends on the availability of the executing companies.

Financing commitment is still pending

Mayor Rauchberger had advocated in our newspaper for construction to begin, even if not all property issues had been clarified in one area.

In the meantime, you could start where only state-owned land is used.

This is fundamentally conceivable, says Schulze - but only on the condition that such work does not result in any disadvantages for other areas on the Große Laine.

Of course, a financing commitment is also necessary before construction begins.

As is well known, the Free State is supposed to pay for most of the flood protection, but the municipality has to contribute 30 percent.

The last cost estimate comes from 2021 and amounted to 1.8 million euros.

Since then, the general price development has increased significantly, which is why Rauchberger fears a large increase in costs.

Dora Schulze replies that nothing can be said about this before the tender is put forward.

However, the fact that the state river master's office carries out much of the work itself certainly has a cost-cutting effect.

The planning for flood protection on the Große Laine includes a combination of dikes, walls and finally a channel widening along the course of the stream - from the Schützenhaus parking lot through the village, between the setting area and the rake and up to the confluence with the Jachen.
