Camila del Coco took her first career steps in Argentina and today works in Barcelona, in the marketing area of a prestigious agency where she works for important international brands.

Her task is to enhance the communication of different companies and for that she relies on specific strategies.

The tools necessary to achieve this goal are the same ones that can be used to boost a personal brand and better position yourself in the professional environment.

In dialogue with BrandStudio, Camila highlights the importance of building “personal branding” to promote one's brand in the workplace.

“That can have a positive impact on your career and help you obtain job opportunities,” she says.

To begin this task, she recommends identifying strengths, unique abilities, and personal value proposition: “The idea is to define what sets you apart in the professional field,” she says.

Just as she would do to promote a brand, Camila highlights the importance of using powerful tools, such as social networks, especially those focused on professional activities.

“They are ideal for building and maintaining a strong professional brand, sharing achievements and participating in relevant industry conversations.

Content creation is also a very important strategy for this purpose, since one can share their knowledge in blogs, articles, podcasts or videos.

This not only demonstrates your experience, but also positions you as a reference in your field,” she explains.

Another key tip for those looking to enhance their professional profile is networking.

This involves participating in events, conferences and seminars, with the aim of establishing genuine connections with industry colleagues and expanding the network of contacts.

By enhancing company communication, it also uses useful tools to promote personal branding and position itself in the professional environment.

Camila used these strategies to obtain the most important jobs of her career.

Her starting point was the productive search for opportunities on professional platforms.

Thus she was able to find job offers and meet people from the industry and the Spanish market, in which she currently works.

That was the entrance door.

“Networking, establishing and maintaining professional connections, references and recommendations were essential to contact relevant people in the sector and the company who, later, recommended my name as a candidate for positions that were opening up within the agency,” she says.

Among the most significant works of his career, the last ones he carried out in Barcelona stand out.

The first was at Starcom, an international media agency where he worked for the international luxury, fragrance and fashion brand PUIG.

There he started as a Brand Executive Intern and within 3 years he rose to the position of Global Digital Operations Senior Manager.

This was in 2018, when he had just landed in Spain.

That experience helped him obtain his current position as Global Media Development Manager at the Havas Media International agency.

There he works for a European airline.

“In this role I not only learn a lot every day and it gives me knowledge at the level of marketing and media strategies;

"But it is also where I am enjoying my career the most, developing new skills, encountering new challenges and achieving achievements on a professional and personal level," he says.

Develop around the world

For Camila, it is important to consider in which country you are looking for work experience, as cultural differences, labor standards or hiring practices must be taken into account.

This can lead to “selling” strategies changing from one place to another.

“From my experience, in Spain the strategies work in a very similar way to those used in Argentina, highlighting the promotion of your professional brand on social networks, networking, word of mouth or recommendation and participation in events, blogs or articles. of the industry,” he points out.

Networking is key: participating in events and conferences, establishing connections with industry colleagues and expanding the network of contacts.

However, he explains that, in other countries, for example, you have to learn about the curriculum vitae format used there, since it is not presented in the same way everywhere.

The model and the information contained in that document is not always the same and recruiters pay close attention to ensuring that the format they require is met.

This makes it easier for them to read and it is easier for them to understand whether or not the candidate fits the profile sought for a certain job.

“Finally, it is crucial to understand the local labor market, including the most relevant industries, employment trends and salary expectations.

Research in these areas can improve the chances of success when finding work in international markets,” adds the specialist.

Moving abroad is a transformative experience and for Camila it was a challenge that encouraged her to grow professionally: “Living experiences in an unknown environment at a cultural level and far from my family nucleus challenged me to evolve, to enhance personal development, to trust in myself, in my abilities and skills, to be independent and to overcome continuous challenges in a new context.”

Regarding his evolution in the labor market, he states: “In my case, working internationally with global brands enriched and added unique value to my professional profile, in addition to providing me with a very broad network of contacts, something that is essential.” .

A key factor was the flexibility to adapt to the local culture.

His recommendation is, both at work and personally, “be humble, respectful, flexible and responsible so that the process is easier.”

Marketing and professional challenges

Camila del Coco is an authorized voice to provide advice to those looking to enter the field of marketing.

For her, the most important thing in this area is to develop creative and innovative capacity.

It is key to read, inform yourself on the Internet, learn from portals from other countries, be aware of trends and thus generate new ideas.

This open mentality will be the added value of the professional and will be seen in the planned marketing strategy.

It is essential to understand the labor market in each location, including the most relevant industries, employment trends and salary expectations.

“Secondly, I recommend the search for different experiences or experiences, such as participation in cultural exchanges, professional practices or multidisciplinary projects to enrich your perspective and develop skills that differentiate you in the labor market.

In my case, the academic experiences and experiences abroad were fundamental for my growth both personally and professionally,” he says.

The last tip is to always be proactive and persistent, take the initiative, know how to lead and have patience but at the same time determination and commitment.

“This will lead you to be efficient in solving problems, to constantly look for opportunities for improvement and to face challenges that will make you grow,” she says.

For Camila, her biggest challenge lies in constantly staying alert to emerging trends in the marketing industry, both from competing and non-competing companies.

“That drives me to explore possibilities of innovation in various media and channels, always looking for new perspectives and opportunities for my client,” she explains.

To achieve this, he is aware of innovations such as artificial intelligence or virtual reality, with the aim of anticipating market needs and leading original initiatives.
