But there will be changes as part of the renovation.

The municipality of Oberammergau is tackling the next major project.

The sewage treatment plant is being upgraded.

The total costs are around 4.6 million euros.

Oberammergau – When it comes, it's great.

And suddenly.

The municipality of Oberammergau has several big chunks on its plate.

For example, she has to expand the fire station.

A million dollar project.

Not the only one.

The sewage treatment plant is due.

It needs renovation.

“It was clear that extensive measures would have to be taken again,” explained building authority manager Bernd Sedlmaier to the local council.

“Especially with the oldest parts, which come from the early days.” From the 1960s.

The municipality has been dealing with the issue for a long time.

It is now time to decide how the project should be implemented.

The community received support from Swabia.

From Schneider-Leibner Ingenieurgesellschaft mbH from Augsburg.

Various on-site visits have already taken place, preliminary investigations have been completed and matters with the authorities have been clarified.

Managing director Jürgen Schneider and his employee Michael Torpier presented the concept – and were completely convincing.

The committee unanimously (18:0) supported upgrading the sewage treatment plant - and planning the necessary funds.

Two construction phases in order to receive funding twice

They matter.

The project is estimated to cost a total of 4.6 million euros.

The municipality will have to shell out around 1.75 million of this itself if the funding goes according to plan.

First, local politicians released the funds for the first of two construction phases - 2.3 million euros (without subsidy).

The people of Oberammergau chose the division consciously.

Two sections means two construction measures and therefore two funding.

The sewage treatment plant is state of the art and meets the requirements.

The focus is on the mechanical part.

Circular sand trap, primary clarification and BioP basin.

The computer system from the 1990s no longer has the desired cleaning performance.

The inlet also causes problems, caused by the unfavorable height conditions and settlement.

There is a risk of flooding.

A solution has to be found.

But it quickly became clear that only a new building as a compact system was worthwhile for rakes and sand traps.

And in a new building.

The basins for coarse desludging and BioP are also doomed.

“Renovation is no longer possible,” Schneider made clear.

This is the result of a concrete examination and static evaluation.

Therefore, the old building will be demolished and a new one will be built right next to the existing one.

The measure is the most sensible that we will pass in this legislative period.

Local councilor Michael Fux

This year those responsible are devoting themselves to planning so that approval can arrive in 2025.

“The pure construction time,” predicted Schneider, “is two years.” Section one, i.e. the sand trap and raking, is to be implemented between 2025 and 2027, and the canal construction is to be built in 2026.

Part two, the new construction of the primary treatment and the demolition, will then be next.

The councilors expressed no doubts about the concept.

However, there were concerns about the consequences of such an investment.

Barbara Cunradi-Rutz (Bunte Liste), for example, disapproved of burdening citizens with even higher fees.

However, Eugen Huber (With a sense of proportion) pointed out that fees are the fairer option.

Unlike a one-time payment, hotels have to give up more than owners of a small house who save water.

The fact that the renovation of the sewage treatment plant is of great importance was not discussed across party groups.

“The measure is the most sensible that we will decide on in this legislative period,” noted Michael Fux (PWG).

“Water must be at a tiptop level.” Because no one can do without it.
