The Friendship Fund will distribute armored security vehicles to 9 local authorities on the northern border at a cost of 7.5 million shekels, this after similar vehicles donated by the fund in the south saved the lives of civilians

The move, which will be launched and completed in the coming weeks, takes place within the framework of the efforts of the fund to strengthen the civilian home front in the north.

The operation joins the aid provided by the foundation all over the country.

The 9 authorities that will receive armored vehicles are Shlomi, Metula, Kiryat Shmona and the regional councils of Ma'ale Yosef, Upper Galilee, Marom Galilee, the entrances to the Hermon, Golan and Meta Asher.

About a year ago, the Friendship Foundation distributed armored vehicles in the surrounding settlements in the south.

On October 7, these vehicles saved the lives of their occupants and allowed the troops to continue fighting the terrorists and move between the settlements.

Ilan Isaacson, the Eshkol regional council officer, who was saved on Saturday, October 7 thanks to the foundation's protected vehicle: "During that morning of October 7, I got into the protected vehicle and started driving towards the brigade base.

On the way I saw the terrorists riding motorcycles and heard the shots.

Two vans loaded with terrorists arrived in front of me.

Due to the identity of my vehicles and theirs, they continued to drive in my direction without firing.

When one of the terrorists recognized me with the uniform, they started shooting, but the armored vehicle deflected all the bullets and allowed me to continue running towards the council and provide the necessary assistance there.

Without the protected vehicle we received from the foundation about a year and a half before the events, I would not be here today."

The president of the Friendship Foundation, Yael Eckstein: "The foundation has been working for many years to protect the residents of Israel, with an emphasis on settlements close to the fence. The effectiveness of the protected vehicles that the foundation donated to settlements in the south proved their effectiveness and saved lives on October 7. Against the background of the heating up situation in the north, we are proud of the possibility that we have to help the security personnel in the localities in the area. This move joins many other operations that we have promoted since the first week of the war, when we made sure to reach all over the country with protective vests, visors, first aid kits, etc. The fund will continue to help even more during this period in all matters related to security and emergency preparedness ".
