This is according to a report published tonight (between Tuesday and Wednesday) in the New York Times and refers to the words of State Department spokesman Matthew Miller.
This, against the background of the hearing held in Congress for the heads of the organization due to the participation of 12 of its people in the October 7 massacre.
As a reminder, the US and 17 other countries have frozen aid to the UN refugee agency.
As for the USA, in practice more than 99 percent of the amount was transferred to the organization even before the decision was made to suspend the transfer of funds. Therefore, the announcement by the USA at least at this stage is mainly declarative.
The total annual funding for the organization is 1.2 billion dollars.
Meanwhile, it is mainly a symbolic act.

As a reminder, it was revealed in "Israel Hayom" that in Israel they avoided publishing incriminating information about UNRA even before the involvement of the organization's personnel in the murderous terrorist attack was revealed. Political officials claimed that in Jerusalem they knew the details for many weeks, but chose not to reveal it. One of the reasons is the fear that "the chaos in Gaza will be greater."
Officials in Washington claim that the real question is how much the amount will be in the next round of aid, when Republican members of Congress called for a comprehensive reform of the organization at last night's hearing.
