His title is still plain and simple: expert.

But should proceedings actually take place against the insolvent Arena-Mittenwald-GmbH, lawyer Dr.

Robert Hänel (56) appointed by the court as insolvency administrator.

His message: The situation is not hopeless.

Mittenwald

– It's all about him in the coming weeks and months: Even if Dr.

Robert Hänel is currently only acting as an expert in the Arena-Mittenwald-GmbH case, there are many indications that the sought-after lawyer will be appointed as insolvency administrator by the responsible local court in Weilheim if proceedings are opened.

The lawyer, who lives in Peißenberg, is currently getting an overview.

“There is enough mass,” is his initial assessment.

Hänel approaches the matter with optimism.

His ambitious goal: “Find a solution before the new season starts.”

According to him, the matter would be made much easier by a new operator of the insolvent Arena-Mittenwald-GmbH, which is allowed to market the community-owned ice stadium through a leasehold agreement until 2031.

Interesting in this context: “I already had a phone call with a potential interested party.” Of course, the proven expert from a Weilheim law firm won’t reveal his name.

And again the name of Karwendelbahn boss Wolfgang W. Reich is circling above the ice stadium.

The controversial board of directors of the stock corporation, which has been at loggerheads with the market town for years, has at least signaled a certain interest to the Tagblatt.

Reich's credo: "In my opinion, the ice rink can be continued if you want it to." He and the potential insolvency administrator agree on this.

I'm a kind of emergency doctor.

The key to an amicable solution lies in the Mittenwald town hall.

An important instrument is the so-called repossession law.

So when the property returns to the municipality with all rights and obligations.

“The community then has to consider what this triggers contractually,” warns Hänel.

On the one hand, possibly a cost assumption, on the other hand, the market runs the risk of being allowed to take over the loss-making plant on the Isar floodplains again via a subsidiary - a deeply political question.

Since 1999, Dr.

Robert Hänel almost exclusively deals with companies that are in trouble.

“I'm a kind of emergency doctor.” His diagnosis for the ice rink intensive care patient sounds promising: “He can be resuscitated!” In other words: For him, an – economic – recovery is obviously within the realm of possibility.

Basically, there are two ways out of the dilemma: One is to preserve the Arena GmbH as part of an insolvency plan.

Then the creditors would have to vote, for example, on replacing the shareholders.

The other variant: The GmbH is liquidated.

What remains the same in both scenarios: “The community is always there,” explains Dr.

Hänel.

The lawyer avoids naming a specific time frame as much as possible.

Because according to him, everything “can happen very quickly”.

If proceedings are actually opened - as things stand today - this could be as early as February.

Hänel’s message to everyone: “I’m always ready to talk.”
