Enough is enough.

Tired of not obtaining concrete answers, the staff of La Durantière college in Nantes decided to invite themselves to the Ministry of National Education.

Thursday afternoon, a delegation of parents and staff from this establishment classified as a priority education network will meet at the corner of Boulevard Raspail and Rue de Grenelle.

On this national strike day, they do not intend to march alongside their colleagues, but to ask Minister Amélie Oudéa-Castéra for a classification in REP+ (reinforced).

Even if they are not expected.

“This would allow us to have 10% more staff

,” notes Sylvain Marange, teacher representatives, about their request.

They would also have more consultation time to imagine systems aimed at better involving students.

For two and a half years, the teachers of this college located at the crossroads of the priority Bellevue and Dervallières districts have been warning of a situation which continues to deteriorate.

Avoided by 70% of families, this establishment welcomes 360 adolescents, some of whom are non-native speakers, have disabilities, and many of whom have great academic difficulties.

60 disciplinary councils in two years

“At the end of the first 15 weeks of the year, students were

deprived of 370 hours of lessons!”

, alerted parents and staff on January 20 in a press release.

“This represents more than 20 hours missed per class”

explains Sylvain Marange, one of the leaders of the mobilization.

Teachers, exhausted, are not replaced.

Recently, a seventh breathless staff was reportedly arrested.

“Some have been for months.

We have a feeling of abandonment, of lack of consideration from an institution that is running out of steam

,” laments the history and geography professor.

Especially since the time of exposure to knowledge is increasingly reduced due to increasing incidents: in addition to incessant delays, 60 disciplinary councils were given over thirty months.

“We want to see the ministry services which have the means to act on the priority education map

,” continues Sylvain Marange, regarding Thursday's trip which will begin with a gathering in Nantes in the morning.

“This map should have been revised in 2019. The ministry had to do it every four years and the previous one was in 2015.

When they wrote to Pap Ndiaye, he replied to them, via an MP, that the redistribution was going to be done in 2024. When they turned to his successor Gabriel Attal, he would have indicated that this revision was for later, without giving a date.

“Each time, we are sent back to the rectorate services

,” deplores the combative teacher (from the SNES-FSU union).

However, they have already been received there five times in two years, without anything moving.

“We are politely told that the classification depends on the ministry.

Everyone shrugs their shoulders..."

If they know that they are not the only ones in this situation, the staff and parents of students at La Durantière are determined.

They were supported by ten renowned teachers and researchers who wrote an open letter to the Prime Minister.

To best prepare for their interview on Thursday, they planned to meet on Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m., during a public meeting.
