Motorway tolls: what the price increases will cost you from February 1

In most cases, motorists should not fear an increase exceeding 3%, with a few exceptions: for the A86 duplex toll, for example, which links Rueil-Malmaison (Hauts-de-Seine) and Vélizy (Yvelines), the increase will reach 4.77%.

The increases are also more marked with regard to categories of heavy vehicles (classes 3 and 4), such as heavy goods vehicles and coaches.

Up to 5.83% increase for the Millau viaduct

The other dealers will also increase their prices, in the same proportions as Vinci.

On Tuesday, Sanef announced an increase of 2.79% on its tolls in the North of France, while those of Sapn (Paris-Normandy) will increase by 3.08%.

Guest of the RMC morning show on Thursday, the general director of Sanef detailed the additional cost that this will entail for motorists.

“Increases are made by 10 cents, we are not allowed to make them less than 10 cents.

So that’s about twenty cents”

In the center-east, the concessionaire APRR (Autoroute Paris Rhin Rhône), which notably administers tolls for the A5, A6 and A19, is preparing to increase its prices by 3.02%.

Those of AREA -(A43,A41...) will increase by 3.04%.

To use the Mont-Blanc motorways and tunnel, motorists will have to agree to an increase of 3.23%.

Fares are soaring on the A79, with an increase of 4.99%, or on the A150 (Rouen-Le Havre), where tolls have increased by 5.41% for the A150.

As for the Tarn valley, crossing it has never been so expensive, since the prices of the Millau viaduct are about to jump by 5.83% outside the summer period (5.56% during the summer period).

To use this viaduct administered by Eiffage, vacationers driving a Class 1 vehicle will now have to pay 13.20 euros, compared to 12.50 euros the previous summer.

Increases less strong than expected

The increase announced by motorway concessionaires is far from the

“price surge”

once feared by motorists.

In the middle of the debate on the 2024 budget, Vinci had raised the specter of a 5% increase, if the tax on motorway concessions were to be implemented.

The Ministry of Transport was then quick to deny the possibility of such an increase.

“The tax will have no impact on the evolution of tolls.

Next year, the increase will be limited, less than 3%

,” Clément Beaune had promised.

To calculate their price increases, dealers base themselves on inflation: from the end of October 2022 to the end of October 2023, its level stood at 3.87%.

Dealers are also seeking to compensate, in their prices, for investments not planned under the contracts signed in 2006. Each year, their pricing proposals must be ratified by the State, before being applied to motorists.

Dealers ultimately showed restraint, as most rate increases for 2024 are below inflation.
