The WildernessLife Freising association held its first general meeting.

It is clear: the offer for children will not remain the same in the future.

Thalhausen

- “We want to reconnect people with nature through wilderness educational offers and experiences, lead them back to their roots and arouse great enthusiasm,” explains chairwoman Cornelia Schlott, the main goal of the recently founded WildernessLife Freising association.

For the same reason, the wilderness and adventure educator, together with the educators Christine Hilgers and Nadja Olleck, have been offering the so-called Ranger groups in Thalhausen and Jägersdorf for several years.

There, children between the ages of six and eleven can run around in nature for two and a half hours a week, do crafts, cook, get to know it, work with it and learn to appreciate it.

Because the three women want to keep the offer low-threshold and affordable, the WildernessLife Freising association was founded on January 6th (we reported).

At his first general meeting on Monday, he set his goals and discussed further ways to achieve them.

In the future there will also be offers for adults

The club does not want to draw the line when it comes to its offerings for children.

“We also want to offer adult education as a second pillar,” says Schlott in an interview with the FT.

She gives lectures and workshops such as herb hikes or cooking over the fire as examples of what this can look like.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)

In addition to the existing ranger groups, the club would also like to expand the offerings for children.

Holiday care, project weeks for kindergartens and wilderness weekends for families were mentioned as ideas.

Look for a construction trailer and fire bowl

“All of our offers are offered at a discount for members, but non-members can also book our programs,” explains the chairwoman.

The general meeting has set a membership fee of 60 euros per year for individuals and 110 euros per year for families.

Schlott says his next goal is to find donations and sponsors for materials for the Waldläufer group in Thalhausen.

“We currently have to bring the materials such as carving tools, fire bowls and water canisters from Jägersdorf to Thalhausen and back,” explains Schlott.

A construction trailer to store materials is also still missing in Thalhausen.

Private donations, sponsors or supporting members are therefore always welcome.

Free spots for ranger group

There are currently still places available for two children for the group in Thalhausen, on the grounds of the St. Anna youth center, every Thursday from 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. (not during school holidays).

Costs: 40 euros for members, 50 euros for non-members per month.
