Since 2011, Olaf the Pinball has been alone on the show stages.
A comeback of his band “The Flippers” is out of the question.
Now he tells us whether he is still in contact with his bandmate Bernd Hengst.
Bretten – As a member of the folk music band “Die Flippers”, Olaf Malolepski (77) celebrated a huge success – but in 2011 the hit giants came to an end.
The band said goodbye to Florian Silbereisen's (42) “The Spring Festival of Folk Music” and left show business.
Five years later, drummer Manfred Durban (†74) died.
Since the band's dissolution, Olaf Malolepski has been working as a solo artist.
Now he speaks openly about a possible comeback and whether he is still in contact with guitarist Bernd Hengst (76).
No contact: Olaf the Pinball has been rocking the stages alone since 2011
Today the pop singer is experiencing his second professional spring, because Olaf the Pinball has become an integral part of German pop stages.
With the “Flippers” song “We Say Thank You” from 2009, he scored a viral hit in 2022, which even reached a young audience and was played and applauded at electronic and rock festivals.
But Olaf Malolepski doesn't just have himself to thank for these successes.
In an interview with
schlager.de
, the musician spoke about a possible reunion of “Die Flippers” and also whether bandmate Bernd Hengst had ever contacted him.
“We have no contact,” was the answer from the solo pinball player.
“That’s what happens when you’ve been together for 44 years.
Then: out of sight, out of mind.
But that's completely normal."

The now 41-year-old goes by the name “Pia Malo” and is a pop singer herself and has even appeared on stage with her father Olaf.
Guitarist Bernd Hengst: Not interested in “Die Flippers”?
When asked whether Bernd doesn't feel the urge to be on stage with Olaf as the “Flippers” duo, the 77-year-old has no answer.
“I don’t know if Bernd doesn’t feel like it anymore.
We separated in 2011 and I continued as Olaf the Pinball Machine.
And my colleagues stopped,” he says in an interview.
