On August 10, 20,024 runners will take part in a unique race : a marathon, the same day as the Olympic event, on the same route. Paris-Versailles-Paris, via a route rich in history (it is inspired by the women's march in 1789), which crosses the most beautiful monuments of Paris and its region... On August 10, 20,024 runners will take part in a unique race : a marathon, the same day as the Olympic event, on the same route.

To allow as many people as possible to have a unique experience, Paris 2024 is also offering a 10 km event, on the same day, with 20,024 participants.

Out of a total of 48,048 bibs, 35,000 have already been allocated, notably through sporting events and a recent draw carried out among the 400,000 most regular runners of the Paris 2024 club. “The enthusiasm has been crazy, says Romain Lachens, impact and legacy director at Paris 2024. We didn't want this marathon for everyone to be the B series of the Olympic marathon but a popular race.

The French will really be able to participate in the Games.

The latest bibs available via Orange

The marathon will be equal.

The typical runner is 38 years old.

The youngest participant in the 10 km is 16 years old, the oldest, 92, while the current oldest participant in the marathon is 85 years old.

82% of participants live in France, while in total, 110 countries are represented.

To win the last bibs, there is only one possibility: turn to Orange, sponsor of the marathon for all.

A mechanism has been set up in stores to allow customers to win a ticket by drawing lots.

While Orange is currently recruiting pacemakers who will accompany the runners, a training program, concocted with the French Athletics Federation, will soon be offered to participants.

A popular festival with sound and light

“An incredible experiential concept.

» Aurélie Merle, sports director, is rave about this event which, for the first in the history of the Olympic Games, is open to the general public.

“We will be able to say to ourselves:

I took part in a race with exceptional athletes

,” she continues.

Camille Lacourt, Martin Fourcade, Amélie Mauresmo, Muriel Hurtis, Tifany Huot-Marchand and others will be in the airlock to accompany the participants throughout the event.

“As the marathon is run at night, we also wanted to provide a sound and light experience,” emphasizes Aurélie Merle.

The monuments of Paris will be illuminated, a system will allow runners to experience unique moments, notably via a light tunnel at the start.

Encouragement zones, with giant screens transmitting messages, will also be installed along the route, with music as a central theme.

A connected race around the world

To involve as many people around the world as possible, a “connected race” will be offered the same weekend as the marathon.

With the ambition of setting the record for the most connected race.

To count your participation, you will have to run or cycle, alone or in a group, for at least 30 minutes;

a nod to the program of 30 minutes of physical activity per day, developed by Paris 2024 and generalized by the government via the great national cause.

You can participate outdoors but also indoors, on a treadmill.

An application was thus developed, allowing participants to view the route.

By pedaling or running, the route is revealed before the athlete's eyes, the inclination of the treadmill also changes depending on the topography.

Different videos, in different formats (30 minutes, entire course, etc.) will be offered.

In France, the Fitness Park rooms will also be open on August 10 and 11 so that as many people as possible can participate.
