The placement of shares of PosteItaliane in the part-privatisation of the Italian post office company will go to employees and small savers first of all, Economy Minister Giancarlo Giorgetti said Wednesday.
"I believe that the objective and honest assessment of this operation, which among other things aims to facilitate the placement with employees and small savers, can also bring greater democracy of the economy, not just greater efficiency and profitability in the company", he said.
"Criticism is legitimate, I do not think one can accuse of selling off a public shareholding, because public control will remain", he told question time in the Italian parliament.
Giorgetti has said the State will maintain control of the company even if it lowers its stake to 35%.
