What happens next with the forest adventure trail on the Peitinger Kalvarienberg: There is still a question mark behind it.

Committed citizens would be happy to help, and the municipality also wants to budget for the project.

First.

Peiting - The forest adventure trail on Kalvarienberg continues to languish after the restoration had to be canceled in the last budget for savings reasons (we reported).

“A few people actually came forward who wanted to help when they heard that restoring the path wasn't going to work for the time being,” says Andrea Deibler from the Tourist Information in Peiting.

Even if a few stations could be retained, it would be a win for Peiting - the tourism association has currently completely phased out the offer.

Of course, there isn't much left of the path: the area is provided by the Raiffeisenbank Pfaffenwinkel.

However, after forestry work, little remains of the former figurehead.

“Some stations are completely dismantled, others are 20 years old,” says Deibler.

60,000 euros should be budgeted for the renovation

And why can't citizens just rebuild the whole thing?

“The problem is: the municipality is liable,” said Deibler.

Mayor Peter Ostenrieder puts it even more starkly: “The forest adventure trail does not currently exist.

We will also remove everything that could be dangerous.” Exactly because of the said liability.

The community leader believes that volunteers who want to “put something together” on their own initiative are commendable.

However, wherever the municipality is liable, accident insurance regulations play a major role.

This means: Everything that is built on the forest adventure trail must be legally secured in such a way that if an accident were to occur, the community is on the safe side.

As a result, any play equipment constructed must comply with certain standards.

So it's no wonder that a few euros aren't enough.

In the last budget, the municipality had earmarked 60,000 euros for the reconstruction and maintenance of the path - and canceled it as part of the big “string concert”.

The amount includes not only DIN standard-compliant equipment, but also the hours worked by the construction yard.

Ostenrieder promises: The forest adventure trail will appear in the budget again this year with the same amount.

“If there is still funding available.” However, there is a caveat to this: if funding is involved, any services must be outsourced.

The own building yard, which can be used cheaply, would then be gone again.

He rejects suggestions such as that kindergartens or students could spruce up the path again.

“It's not like putting a slide in the garden at home.” As long as the municipality is liable, something proper has to be built.

And that costs.

“My wish would be that we put it in the budget and we manage to keep it there.”

The whole thing stands or falls - as it does every year - with the trade tax payments of the Peitingen companies.

“It will be a tight squeeze again.” There is still a lot left to do in Peiting when it comes to property sales.

“We just have to see what the budget can provide.” And accordingly, the forest adventure trail (which actually no longer exists) continues.
