Highlights: Sciences Po partners with ExtraStudent to open its doors to other high school students. With this partnership, potential students will be able to ask their questions directly to the school's teams. “Organized chat, questions and answers, it can replace a student lounge,” says communications director Émilie Prade, for whom the presence on the platform will help young people who would not have heard of Sciences Po during their schooling but who could have the right profile and desire to join the school.

Sciences Po is trying to reach out to high school students other than those who already know the institution by joining forces with ExtraStudent, the popular network

With Discord like other applications, collaborative spaces between high school students, students and teachers have experienced a period of intensive use since Covid.

Until now rather reserved for the use of questions and answers and homework help between high school students and students, ExtraStudent has decided to mark time and differentiate itself from other apps by adding a space to exchange with private higher education establishments or public.

While Parcoursup opened its wish submission phase on January 17, Jules Simiand Brocherie, the founder of ExtraStudent, chose to join forces with Sciences Po, which makes openness to other high school students a focus of its development.

“We are in a logic of openness,” explains Émilie Prade, communications director at Sciences Po who worked with ExtraStudent on the partnership.

“Firstly social for 20 years with partner high schools, which allows scholarship holders to join Sciences Po, but also geographical with Parcoursup which has shown that Sciences Po is not only for Parisians, and finally there, towards new territories, where there are high school students who would not necessarily think of Sciences Po.”

“It can replace a student lounge”

With this partnership with Sciences Po, potential students will be able to ask their questions directly to the school's teams.

“Organized chat, questions and answers, it can replace a student lounge,” continues Émilie Prade, for whom the presence on the platform will help young people who would not have heard of Sciences Po during their schooling but who could have the right profile and desire to join the school.

“Sciences po embodies academic excellence and international openness for us,” explains Jules Simiand Brocherie for whom the school is a first stone before others join it: “We wish more broadly to become a hub of orientation to allow high school students to have access to information on the schools on their shortlist, from anywhere and for free.

We are in the process of integrating schools that wish to do so, public and private schools, with or without reputation.

The platform offers an immersion for each school with testimonials from students, management staff and a video immersion.

“It is important to know the environment in which we will evolve, if it is suitable for our leisure activities, if it is sporty, etc.

We offer them this immersion,” explains Jules Simiand Brocherie: “I created the app that I would have liked to have.
