A wonderful winter hike leads through forests and meadows from Seefeld Castle to Andechs Monastery.

This tour is suitable for young and old and offers a fantastic panorama, especially in winter.

A magical winter hike takes nature lovers from Seefeld Castle to the impressive Andechs Monastery.

The traditional pilgrim path to the “Holy Mountain”, which up to a million people climb every year, offers a peaceful contrast to the busy atmosphere of the monastery beer gardens.

Winter hiking boots and telescopic poles are recommended to ensure a secure grip on potentially icy sections.

From Seefeld Castle to Andechs Monastery

The hike starts at the picturesque Seefeld Castle, whose medieval appearance has retained the atmosphere of a fortified structure.

On the way you pass the “Höllgraben”, cross bridges and dive into a forest path that is often covered in hoarfrost in winter.

The path leads through a high valley to the Widdersberg pond, whose frozen surface underlines the silence of nature.

At the top of the lateral moraine there is a breathtaking view of the sparkling Ammersee.
