Holzkirchen

– The farmers are not letting up.

The nationwide protests against the abolition of the agricultural diesel subsidy entered the next round on Wednesday (January 31st), this time the tractors were mainly lined up on motorway entrances.

The focus of the action in the Miesbach district was near Holzkirchen, where the B 318 flows into the A 8.

Smaller groups were traveling at the Weyarn and Irschenberg junctions.

“There were no dangerous blockades,” said Stefan Sonntag, press spokesman for the Upper Bavaria-South Police Headquarters, when asked.

At the end of the B 318 near Fichtholz (market town of Holzkirchen), immediately before the motorway entrance towards Salzburg and shortly before the new bridge, the first Bulldogs arrived around 9 a.m.

At 11:30 a.m., police counted 85 participants with 71 bulldogs and four cars.

BBV district chairman Josef Huber was also there.

The tractors blocked one of the two lanes.

Anyone who wanted to get onto the A 8 from the direction of Tegernsee had to drive slowly past the line.

In the meantime, a long backlog also formed.

As police spokesman Sonntag explained, the motorway entrance was closed twice for a few minutes “for safety reasons”.

“The operation was otherwise unproblematic,” said the spokesman.

The demonstration in Holzkirchen broke up around 1 p.m.

Around 9 a.m., some tractors, coming from state road 2073, also headed for the Weyarn junction to position themselves there.

According to the police, around 20 bulldogs initially gathered further east at the Irschenberg driveway;

The participants showed their presence in the area of the local OMV gas station and the roundabout.

According to police, around 750 participants with 680 vehicles took part in the protests on Wednesday along the highways in southern Upper Bavaria.

“There were cooperation discussions in advance,” explained police spokesman Sonntag, “everything went smoothly.” The meeting participants were largely insightful and willing to compromise.

Some tractors were decorated with protest slogans that did not skimp on harsh criticism of the federal government's policies.

A poster in Irschenberg revealed that the farmers are far from tired of protesting and are considering pulling out other stops: “Next time everything will be closed.”
