The latter are temporarily staying in a hotel made available by 115 in Joinville-le-Pont. They are expected to be deported on February 4. A group of communist and related senators tabled a bill aimed at allowing town halls and prefects to requisition vacant or unoccupied housing to make it available to the homeless.

At 6 years old, a child attending the Hautes Bruyères school in Villejuif (Val-de-Marne) could find himself back on the street with his mother

Threatened with domestic violence, she left her country with her 6-year-old boy to find refuge in France.

Arriving in the area a few months ago, this mother managed to send her child to the Hautes Bruyères school in Villejuif but remains homeless.

“She first met a lady in the metro who offered to sleep at her place for a few days and helped her find a school for her son,” says Sandra Andrieux, mother of a student at the Hautes school. Bruyères and elected representative of an independent parents' association.

“Since then, she found refuge in a garage, then in a car before really ending up on the street.

She sometimes found refuge at the reception of the Kremlin-Bicêtre hospital.

A pot to pay for hotel nights

Faced with this situation deemed "unbearable" by the school's parents, a snack was organized on Friday January 26 with the aim of raising funds via an online kitty in order to finance hotel nights for this mother and her son. child.

The latter are temporarily staying in a hotel made available by 115 in Joinville-le-Pont (Val-de-Marne), but should be expelled around February 9.

“This solution emerged during the extreme cold plan, when the snow started to fall in Île-de-France two weeks ago.

But after this episode, this lady and her son are no longer a priority for the allocation of emergency housing according to 115,” worries Sandra Andrieux.

And to regret: “The allocation of emergency housing is an exclusive competence of the State.

It is therefore up to him to implement his responsibilities and respond to these fundamental rights issues.

» It is to compensate for this “failure of the State” that a group of communist and related senators, including Pascal Savoldelli senator in Val-de-Marne, tabled a bill aimed at allowing town halls and prefects to requisition vacant or unoccupied housing to make it available to the homeless.

“There are 128,000 empty homes in Paris, and 1,800 children on the street in Île-de-France,” compares Antonin Cois, based on figures from Samu social and the Parisian urban planning workshop.

Contacted, the Val-de-Marne prefecture did not wish to comment on this subject.

Three other children on the street in the same school

One situation hiding another, the mobilization of parents and teachers around this mother and her son would have made it possible to lift the veil on the case of a family of three children this time.

“They sublet to a slumlord, at a rent of 1,500 euros/month,” Sandra Andrieux believes.

They are expected to be deported on February 4.

It is very difficult to detect all the cases, many families are in hiding for fear of being separated from their children.”

“Schooling is compulsory, but how can you ensure it correctly when you have neither slept nor eaten?
