Rottach-Egern

– The aging Wallberg senior residence is to be renovated step by step.

In June, the Rottach local council approved the demolition and new construction.

However, it is currently unclear when construction work will begin.

This is not to be expected this spring.

The owner, Carestone, is still waiting for building permits from the Miesbach district office.

“The necessary tests are currently underway in the approval process,” reported company spokesman Stefan Schlichting when asked.

With reference to this, he leaves further questions unanswered.

There is no information on whether there will be any changes to the planning or what the schedule looks like.

Complex with three new buildings planned

The design approved by the local council envisages three four-story buildings with a total of 156 rooms.

The talk was that after the first house was completed, the residents of the existing building would move into the new building.

The move will be followed by the demolition of the old building and then the construction of additional houses.

A closure is not planned.

Operations in the retirement home are currently running as usual.

The local administration said that nothing would change that quickly.

There is also no stop in admissions due to the planned renewal.

In October 2023, a Carestone representative presented the renewal plans to around 70 employees.

The entire measure extends over a longer period of time and should not burden the residents.

New owner has commissioned operating company

The former operator Peter Wisgott, who died unexpectedly in February 2021, also had renovation plans.

The heirs sold to the real estate developer Carestone from Hanover.

In December 2022, Carestone brought the Hanau-based Auvictum Group on board as operator.

In January 2023, Carmen Wolff-Heinrich, representing Auvictum, presented the operating concept to the local council.

She assured that Auvictum valued the expertise of its proven staff and wanted to preserve a familiar environment for the residents.

At the time of her talk, there were 85 seniors living at the facility.

By the time we move into the first new building, the number of places should be reduced to 63.

Wolff-Heinrich left the company in August 2023.

Auvictum does not answer current inquiries about the operation of the senior residence and the number of residents, but refers to Carestone as the owner.

The community secures continued operations through a contract

Mayor Christian Köck (CSU) has repeatedly emphasized how important the retirement home is for the community of Rottach-Egern.

In order to maintain the homes and bring them up to modern standards, the local council has made many contractual agreements.

There was some irritation when Carestone submitted a building application in April 2023 in which the initially planned staff apartments on the top floor and the underground car park were missing.

The committee refused.

Carestone made improvements and got the okay in June for a variant with staff apartments, but without underground parking.

However, questions remained unanswered regarding the parking space concept.

After all the discussions, Köck sees the future of the senior residence on the right track.

The places are urgently needed, especially since Villa Bruneck in neighboring Kreuth closed its nursing department at the end of 2021.

Köck expects the start of construction work to be postponed until next year.

But the mayor doesn't think that's a disadvantage.

After the extensive expansion of Weissachaustraße, the residents would at least have a breather.
