One of the leaders of the protest against the legal revolution, Shakma Bresler, today (Thursday) filed a defamation lawsuit against Knesset member Tali Gottlieb, and against six other network activists, in the amount of NIS 2.6 million.

This, following the Knesset member's claim, according to which Bresler had ties with Hamas.

"At the heart of the publications, a blood plot against Bresler and accusing her of treason to the homeland, in connection with Hamas, and responsibility for the terrible massacre carried out by its terrorists," wrote in the lawsuit lawyers Idan Seger and Ohad Rosen, referring to the publication of the conspiracy website "Edna Carnival" cited by Gottlieb.

"Beyond the severe damage that the publications cause to Bresler's good name, they also reached the heart of the public discourse and the Knesset's stationery. Their continued distribution poses a real danger to the proper democratic public discourse in the State of Israel."

A website cited conspiracy theories and accused Bresler of being connected to Hamas.

MK Tali Gottlieb/Reuven Castro

A few days ago, Bresler's lawyers demanded that the head of the investigation and intelligence division in the police and the legal adviser to the government, Gali Beharev Miara, order the opening of an investigation against Knesset member Tali Gottlieb for "a series of serious offenses".

It was claimed before the ombudsman that Gottlieb "aided the enemy in the war, disclosed confidential information in violation of the law, misused her maid" and more.

"The slander that Gottlieb spread regarding the plaintiff was not published spontaneously," the lawsuit states in this regard. "It is easy to prove that this is a campaign A systematic and planned cross of a Knesset member against a civilian.

A situation in which a member of the Knesset who spread blatant lies against a female citizen, refuses to hold a debate on them, and seeks to hide under her immunity - is intolerable."

Already on the day MK Gottlieb's words were published, Shin Bet chief Ronan Bar issued a scathing letter condemning the words, "The security of the State of Israel and the security of the members of the security forces cannot be idle, and be used as a game tool in a desperate attempt to gain public attention," the Shin Bet chief wrote.

"MK Gottlieb's actions are clearly criminal acts and on the face of it they also constitute a civil wrong." Barr also referred to Gottlieb's publication at a meeting of the Security Political Cabinet and said "It is a complete lie, crossing a red line and a criminal offense to reveal the identity of a Shin Bet member , it puts him in danger."
