Meteorologist Dominik Jung announced an end to spring fever in the weather in February.
Milder weather is expected to continue - but weather chaos is forecast for February
The weather in January was mixed.
A bit of early spring, a heavy onset of winter and sunshine.
Although many people in Germany remember the beginning of the year as being very cold, in many federal states it was significantly warmer than in recent years.
In North Rhine-Westphalia, the average temperature was 2.6 degrees, 1.5 degrees above the long-term average.
The average temperature across Germany in January was 1.3 degrees Celsius.
Compared to the average temperature from 1961 to 1990, this is an increase of 1.8 degrees.

initially only
sees a return to winter temperatures in a few places.
The weather expert predicts an air mass limit for February 8th.
“Snowfall and sleet to the north, rain to the south,” announces Jung.
A weather forecast is more than clear for the expert from February 8th: “Rain, rain, rain.” Jung fears that Germany in Europe will “become a swimming pool.” In many places, “Germany could literally be under water.”
From mid-February there could be new weather chaos in Germany.

February will be warm and rainy in many federal states
On the other hand, meteorologist Dominik Jung announced that there is currently no threat of another onset of winter across Germany.
“In Wismar, for example, it remains mild until mid-February.
Between five and 10 degrees are to be expected, which means a new mountain of heat will be added.
After that it gets a little cooler, but we stay at temperatures around five degrees." The milder temperatures are accompanied by strong regular cases and "sometimes also a lot of wind." In addition to Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, it also gets rather mild in central Germany: "In Weimar Temperatures of around 10 degrees can be expected at times.”

Although the temperatures will cool down again by the middle of the month, Dominik Jung does not want to speak of an onset of winter.
“Nevertheless, the values are still too high for this time of year.” Frost can therefore only be expected at night, especially in the south.
Over the entire month it is said to be one to two degrees too warm, and in southern Germany and the Alps it is even three degrees too warm.
However, Jung also points out that the forecasts could still change in February.
