Highlights: Christophe Béchu confirms that from February 15 the method of calculating the energy performance diagnosis (EPD) of small areas will be changed. The minister is preparing to allow certain housing units whose maximum surface area could be set between 30 m2 and 50 m2, to leave the scope of the G or F rating. This rectification of the way the EPD is calculated should make it possible to remove a little more than 140,000 from their sieve status, he says.

During his greetings to the press, the Minister of Ecological Transition announces that he will very quickly review the energy performance diagnosis.

The Minister of Ecological Transition takes up Prime Minister Gabriel Attal's slogan to simplify the lives of the French in all directions.

On the sidelines of his wishes to the press on Wednesday January 31, Christophe Béchu confirmed that from February 15 the method of calculating the energy performance diagnosis (EPD) of small areas will be changed.

Last week, the Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire had already revived the subject, evoking a modification of the DPE to correct certain “biases” and no longer a postponement of its timetable.

“Mid-February, I will announce a simplification of the DPE which will make it possible to maintain the ambition of the initial schedule

(to prohibit the rental of thermal strainers classified G from 2025 and F from 2028)

while making the system more reliable for small areas “, he announced.

The minister is preparing to allow certain housing units whose maximum surface area could be set between 30 m2 and 50 m2, to leave the scope of the G or F rating, the two worst ratings of the DPE, those which force their owners to launch extensive renovation work to be able to continue to rent them.

This rectification of the method of calculating the DPE on these surfaces should make it possible to remove a little more than 140,000 from their sieve status.
