Paris confirms the importance of wine in French culture.
To the point of asserting itself as the world capital of wine merchants.
According to the latest figures from the Parisian Urban Planning Workshop (Apur), the number of wine merchants in Paris has increased by almost 10% over the last three years, to reach 681 brands.
Thus, despite the 71 disappearances between 2020 and 2023, 132 creations allow a positive balance.

The month without alcohol (Dry January) which ended on Wednesday January 31 is “a fashion created by the media”, say certain professionals met in recent days, who note “an effect in sales” caused by this challenge of beginning of the year.
“Regulars of a certain age decide to abstain during January for their health.
But they will come back to treat themselves to a nice bottle on February 1st,” Stéphane, salesman at Caves Bossetti (4th arrondissement), is already planning.
