At its general meeting, the Ammerland fire department looked back on 24 missions in 2023.

One led the rescue workers directly to the filming of “Hubert ohne Staller”.

Ammerland – With its 151st birthday and the inauguration of the fire department and rifle center at the end of June, the Ammerland fire department is facing a celebration “like the village has never seen before,” said club chairman Martin Döhla recently at the annual meeting.

The four-day celebration with a marquee is also so big so that the fire department, which has suffered from problems with young talent in the past, can show what an “attractive, dynamic and likeable club” it is, said Döhla.

Despite the intensive new building planning by the community and fire department, the chairman looked back on numerous social and sporting events.

The active members – currently 54 men and women – have had a busy year in 2023.

First Commander Markus Geigel reported 24 missions.

They are divided into 19 technical assistance operations and five fire operations.

Firefighters were called out twice to deal with storm damage, once to break snow, once to open a door and once to rescue a turntable ladder.

After the hailstorm, the people of Ammerland supported their colleagues in the district in repairing the damage and securing roads and buildings in Benediktbeuern.

They also helped with a house fire in Münsing and a boat fire on Lake Starnberg.

In the Seeburg in neighboring Allmannshausen, the fire alarm triggered false alarms three times - once due to a smoke system that was running during filming of the series "Hubert without Staller".

This had the advantage that Döhla was able to use the opportunity to ask the actor and cabaret artist Hannes Ringlstetter whether he would like to perform at the anniversary.

Ringlstetter spontaneously agreed.

In addition to building the house and preparing for the festival, last year the board dealt with purchasing a new fire engine.

As reported, the local council had fundamentally approved the purchase of an LF10 on a Unimog chassis.

The variety of uses, for example in forest fires and in the often impassable terrain on Seestrasse, results in an ideal complement to the vehicles already available in the community, said Commander Geigel.

District fire officer Erich Zengerle congratulated the people of Ammerland on the operations carried out, the new building and the planned vehicle procurement, on the numerous courses attended and on the lively club life.

It reflects cohesion and good camaraderie, he said.

He expressly thanked everyone for their solidarity after the hail damage.
