For the ninth time, the AfD has failed to have representatives elected to the board of trustees of the state center for political education in the state parliament.

A court is due to rule on this on Monday.

Stuttgart - A few days before the country's Constitutional Court wants to announce a verdict in the dispute, the AfD tried again in the state parliament to have representatives elected to the board of trustees of the state center for political education.

The right-wing populists once again failed to gain a large majority in parliament on Thursday.

MP Bernhard Eisenhut received 15 yes votes and 112 no votes, with two abstentions and two invalid votes.

His parliamentary group colleague Uwe Hellstern received 14 yes votes and 113 no votes.

Two members abstained and two ballot papers were invalid.

According to the state parliament administration, Thursday's election was the ninth.

The board of trustees is intended to ensure the non-partisan nature of the state headquarters.

The Greens declared in 2022 that the elected AfD representatives had recently abused their office to badmouth the state headquarters.

At the time, the AfD announced that it would repeatedly try to put the election on the agenda.

The group had also filed a lawsuit against the repeated rejection of its candidates before the country's Constitutional Court.

The court plans to announce a verdict in the case on Monday.

During the hearing, the AfD argued that rejecting the candidates would violate their right to equal treatment as a parliamentary minority.

The state parliament, in turn, took the position that the principle of equal treatment did not apply to the board of trustees because it was an extra-parliamentary body.

There is no parliamentary work taking place there.

The right to equal opportunities is also limited to the right to make proposals, and this has been granted again and again.
