The 32-year-old accused of accessory to murder denied on Wednesday that he knew in advance about the later double murder.

On the second day of the trial for the Altenstadt double murder, one of the defendants commented on the allegations for the first time yesterday, Wednesday, in front of the Memmingen regional court.

- Background: A 38-year-old and his 33-year-old wife have to answer for murder; their co-accused acquaintance is said to have approved of the crime, gave the couple an alibi and a car and even the two-year-old at the time of the crime looked after the couple's child.
The couple is accused of murdering the 38-year-old's father and his partner in their home in Altenstadt (Neu-Ulm district) in April 2023.
The 32-year-old described his view of things in front of the Memmingen regional court on Wednesday.
He had no concrete knowledge of what happened on the night of the murder and didn't want to know because he suspected it was something bad.
The fact that he gave his 38-year-old friend an alibi was essentially forced upon him.
The man accused of murder told him a few days later after the crime that he had given his address to the police as a witness for the crime.
Ultimately, his helpfulness and good faith were taken advantage of by a supposed friend.
The co-defendant described this.
First, how he and the 38-year-old met through Facebook and a shared passion for the same car model in 2013.
They then met more often to work on the car because the 38-year-old had appropriate automotive training.
In return, he used his IT skills in the programming area.
Broken father-son relationship
The 32-year-old also commented on Wednesday about the relationship between the 70-year-old father and his son, who, according to the prosecution, is said to have killed him.
The relationship between the two initially seemed completely normal to him, he said in court.
In 2022, however, there were hardly any joint meetings until October.
Only then did it gradually become apparent that the relationship between father and son was strained.
The 70-year-old walked past them without saying a word, something he hadn't done before.
According to the son, a dispute arose over the costs of renovating his parents' house.
Afterwards there were often negative comments, but no discussions about inheritance matters.
At the beginning of 2023, his 38-year-old friend visited him with his wife and daughter and stayed overnight there.
The 38-year-old asked him whether it was possible to swap cars - the couple was out of the house at night.
He should also make sure that the trail camera is turned off that night.
On the night of the crime in April 2023, the couple and their child visited their apartment in Baden-Württemberg again for the night.
The couple went out again at night, but this time it was different than a few weeks before: the couple came back excited in the morning, took a shower and then quickly drove away with their child and their own car.
His friend just told him that everything had gotten out of hand.

On the next day of the trial, the public prosecutor's office, the court and the defense attorneys for the two defendants in the double murder have the opportunity to ask the 32-year-old and his description of the case beforehand in written form.
