Since King Frederik X was named successor to Queen Margrethe II, Prince Christian has been second in line to the Danish throne.
His father demands him.
Copenhagen - As soon as things get a little quieter after the proclamation of Frederik take on the role of king as heir to the throne.
What's going on in Denmark?
Is the next change of throne already imminent?
It is the first time that Crown Prince Christian has taken on the role of regent
Although Frederik does not want to abdicate, his first state visit to Poland is on his royal calendar.
During the three-day absence, the monarch appointed his son, who has just come of age, as deputy.
This decision by Frederik has led to a lot of speculation, because the fact is that he could have made a different decision.
Queen Mary (51) would have been a possible choice in the absence of the king.
She could have taken on the role of head of state, but the royal family has already confirmed that this is apparently out of the question when Frederik travels to Warsaw and Szczecin.
It seems even more obvious to ask the current Queen Margrethe to run state affairs from January 31st to February 2nd, when King Frederik will be abroad.
The palace did not comment further on why his mother did not want to ask or whether she, the old queen, was also unable to attend.

In addition to heir to the throne Christian and Queen Mary, three other members of the royal family can act as deputies: Former Queen Margrethe II, Princess Benedikte (79) and Prince Joachim (54).
Benedikte is the younger sister of the Old Queen.
Joachim is the king's younger brother and the second son of the old queen.
In the Danish monarchy, however, a distinction is made between the heir to the throne and the other deputies.
When Christian appears in the role, he is referred to as Regent.
Queen Margrethe may have had enough on her plate; after her abdication, the regent had already announced how she wanted to spend her time.
