A tragic traffic accident in Middle Franconia claims the life of a 65-year-old driver.
Five other women were injured, two of them critically.
Mailheim/Oberndorf – On Wednesday evening, January 31st, there was a serious traffic accident in Middle Franconia in which a 65-year-old driver lost her life.
Police reported five other women were injured, including two with life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred on the connecting road between Mailheim and Oberndorf in the Neustadt/Aisch-Bad Windsheim district.

According to the police, the 65-year-old was driving her vehicle from Oberndorf towards Mailheim when, for reasons that are still unknown, she collided with an oncoming minivan containing five women, all of whom were injured in the accident.
Despite first aid measures being administered immediately, the 65-year-old died at the scene of the accident.
Two people critically injured
The injured women from the minivan, aged between 44 and 69, received immediate medical care and were then taken to various hospitals.
Two of them, a 57-year-old and a 69-year-old, suffered life-threatening injuries.
According to the current state of the investigation, the police do not rule out that a medical emergency suffered by the 65-year-old could have been the cause of the collision.
Due to the rescue and recovery work, the accident site remained closed to traffic until late in the evening.
A large contingent of rescue workers were deployed, including firefighters from the area, emergency services personnel, emergency doctors, a rescue helicopter and emergency chaplains.
