While countries like Norway, Great Britain and Spain have clear rules requiring royal families to publish lists of the things they receive as gifts, Denmark has so far been completely exempt from such guidelines.
While the Norwegian royals have to refuse all gifts over 134 euros, the Danish royals make full use of it.

As King Frederik waved from the Christiansborg balcony, his precious Shamballa bracelet was visible.
It is not known whether he bought it himself or whether it was a gift from his wife Mary.
In any case, it caused a lot of fuss (photomontage).

Jesper Olsen, chairman of Transparency International Denmark, heavily criticized the situation on the Danish news platform
DR Nyheder:
“The royal family has power.
And in all sorts of other contexts in which one holds public office, one is not allowed to accept gifts.”
There are finally the first signs that the criticism has reached Amalienborg Palace, Frederik's official residence and residence.
