A first victory.

The handful of teachers who have been exercising their right of withdrawal since Monday at the Maximilien-Perret high school in Alfortville to warn about the conditions in which they teach (false ceilings that are collapsing, gutters, mold, etc.) have been heard.

“The CHSCT academic commission at the rectorate considered our right of withdrawal to be legitimate and the serious and imminent danger was recognized,” this teacher announced this Thursday.

A rare recognition enjoyed by the nine teachers involved out of the hundred in the establishment.

No more false ceiling plates in stock?

As a result, emergency measures will be taken: securing dangerous places, air analyzes in rooms where mold is most prevalent, electrical assessment, etc.

During these withdrawal days, teachers took the opportunity to take an inventory and fill out safety sheets to report traces of mold, leaks, etc.

“We are in solidarity with the management and the maintenance staff who are doing what they can.

Apparently he doesn't even have enough plates left to replace the ones that fall off.

On the parents' side, the local FCPE “discovered the extent of the problem and fully supported the teaching team.

It is clear that since June 2021, the situation has probably not evolved sufficiently and the region's promises have not been followed up on.

At the heart of the problem: the repair of the roof, requested for years and which became urgent after the violent storm of June 2021. This Wednesday, in the permanent committee for the region, regional councilor Jonathan Kienzlen (PS) made the request echo.

“Why is Maximilien Perret not a priority?

», asks the elected official again this Thursday.

“Amounts have been voted, contracts promised and it is still postponed”, teachers abound.

In 2022, two million euros were mentioned and the project announced for 2023. “I hope without polemical spirit that the region will accelerate”, in turn supports Mayor Luc Carvounas (PS), who nevertheless welcomes the rehabilitation of the amphitheater.

“All of the high school’s false ceilings will be checked.

When requested, the region indicated that it had “commissioned a specialized company which carried out all day Wednesday to diagnose the false ceilings and secure them on a case-by-case basis.

Following this audit, the part of the false ceilings in the corridor of Building B was permanently repaired.

This area is now perfectly secure.

As a precautionary measure, all of the high school's false ceilings will be checked.

The community also indicated this Monday that a call for tenders would be launched and a contract notified at the end of 2024. Nine months of heavy work are expected, which is why it will have to be carried out on an occupied site and during school holidays.

The investment is estimated at 1.5 million euros.
