The RTL casting show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” with Dieter Bohlen starts again in autumn.
However, in a shortened version.
There is only one live show.
Cologne – Last year, the anniversary season of “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” was also supposed to be the last edition of the RTL casting show.
But shortly before the season finale, Dieter Bohlen (69) proudly announced that the TV format was being extended.
However, the next slap for the DSDS juror now followed.
RTL has radically shortened the DSDS shows for 2024.
The live shows are particularly important.

The DSDS castings are still underway at the moment and will be broadcast on TV from autumn.
But RTL is already certain that the 21st season will be shortened to just 15 episodes and will be shown on TV.

This makes it the shortest edition since the format was first broadcast in 2003. At that time there were still 16 episodes.
In the years that followed, the seasons averaged 18 to 20 episodes.
Season nine from 2012 even holds the record with 24 episodes.
The station has particularly turned the corner on the live shows.
While in the first season the DSDS candidates had to work their way to the winner's podium in nine themed shows, last year there were only three live shows.
RTL is now only planning a single live show, which will most likely take place in spring 2025. According to

the reason for the cuts is likely to be the rather moderate ratings for the live shows.
In the classic target group, the 2023 season did not achieve the desired numbers with a market share of ten percent.

When looking at the jury, fans can look forward to seeing familiar faces.
In addition to DSDS veteran Dieter Bohlen, DSDS winner Pietro Lombardi (31) and pop queen Beatrice Egli (35) - probably the most commercially successful singer in the format - are also at the start.
The jury team is completed by rapper Loredana (28).

DSDS 2024 also advertises some innovations.
At Bohlen's request, the age limit was dropped.
This year, everyone aged 16 and over will have the chance to prove themselves in front of the jury.
In addition, this time the castings will only take place in Europa Park Rust.
The different theme worlds should serve as a backdrop and thus make the castings visually more diverse.

In the past, pop singer Beatrice Egli had criticized Dieter Bohlen and “Germany is looking for the superstar”.
