After the death of three US soldiers, the USA wants to take countermeasures.
Republicans demand attacks – despite warnings from Iran.
Washington, DC – After a drone attack on a US base in Jordan, the US has announced retaliatory measures against those responsible.
Three US soldiers were killed in the attack, which US President Biden said was carried out by militias backed by Iran.
According to the US magazine
Newsweek,
Republicans have called for military action against Iran
.
However, the government under President Biden does not want to risk further escalation in the Middle East.
Iran, meanwhile, is warning the US that “no threats remain unanswered,” as Iranian Major General Hossein Salami said in a speech to the National Congress.
Republican politicians largely downplayed the threats from Iran.
“They can talk tough, they make tough statements, they always have.
There’s nothing new here,” said Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw.
Republicans believe fears of “World War III” are unfounded
Crenshaw believes it is unlikely that military measures against Iran could lead to a world war.
“The doomsayers of World War III have always been wrong,” he said on
Fox News
.
The scenario was not spread for the first time and then did not occur.
“They were wrong about Russia, they were wrong about the Cold War, they were wrong here,” Crenshaw continued.

Republican Senator Tom Cotton issued a statement about the attacks.
There he said: “The only response to these attacks must be a devastating military retaliation against the terrorist forces of Iran.
Anything else will confirm Joe Biden as a coward.” His party colleague Mitch McConnell agreed.
He told the Reuters
news agency
that it was time to “take the aggression seriously.”
Democratic MPs, on the other hand, urge caution.
Senator Tim Kaine told
CNN
that a U.S. response that goes beyond self-defense could make the situation "unclear."
“Those who attacked our troops, the president can stop if he knows who they are and believes they will do it again,” Kaine said.
Iran denies the allegations and threatens the USA
“We are not looking for war, but we are not afraid of it either,” said Major General Salami, in response to the demands of some US Republicans.
In the event of an American attack, Iran would defend itself, Salami said.
Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian also called for the threats and blame from the US to stop, the
Islamic Republic's News Service
(IRNA) reported.
