The federal police have caught a suspected smuggler near Mittenwald after attempting to escape.
The man is now in custody.
Mittenwald – A short but dangerous escape from the federal police ended yesterday, Tuesday, January 30th, near Mittenwald with the arrest of a suspected smuggler.
After the car stopped abruptly on the B2, the driver ran into the adjacent forest.
He suddenly sprayed an officer who was able to catch up with him in the face with pepper spray.
Federal police officers who moved forward managed to catch the Belarusian.
He was carrying three Syrian migrants in his car.
The 21-year-old was taken into custody today on a court order.

After about half a kilometer he slammed on the brakes, fell out of the vehicle and ran into the forest adjacent to the main road.
An officer managed to catch up with the young man.
Immediately before he caught him, he sprayed his pursuer in the eyes with pepper spray from a short distance.
However, the continuation of the escape that this made possible did not help the Belarusian to evade police control.
Federal police officers caught up with him again and handcuffed him.
Meanwhile, other officers took the Syrian passengers, who remained obviously frightened in the getaway car, into custody.
The three were taken separately from their suspected smuggler to the federal police station in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
According to the information, they had to pay a total of around 15,000 euros per person for the smuggling from Syria to Germany.
The smugglers would have charged each person several hundred euros for the last stage alone.
Given the situation in their homeland, all three submitted a request for protection.
The men, aged 18, 23 and 28, were assigned to a reception center for refugees in Munich after the police measures were completed.
The officer injured by the irritant was taken by ambulance to the clinic in Garmisch-Partenkirchen for further treatment of his eyes.
He was no longer able to serve for the time being.
However, no permanent damage is currently expected.

The Rosenheim Federal Police Inspectorate is investigating the Belarusian driver, who has a Polish visa, for smuggling in foreigners, physically attacking or resisting law enforcement officers and causing grievous bodily harm.
He was brought before the district court in Munich on Wednesday afternoon.
The judge accepted the public prosecutor's request and ordered the suspected smuggler to be taken into custody.
