Great honor for Pankratia Holl: The woman from Kurzenrieder was awarded the Peiting Market Citizen's Medal on Tuesday in the local council.
Peiting – Pankratia Holl listened modestly to the laudatory speech that the mayor had prepared for her.
As announced, the long-time market town councilor, co-founder of the farmers' market and simply an important figure in the town was presented with the Citizen's Medal on Tuesday evening.
A special honor that only very few people receive.
So far there are 14 people who have worn the Peiting Market Citizen's Medal, said town hall boss Peter Ostenrieder.
For him, one of the most beautiful tasks of the office is “to be able to thank particularly deserving citizens for their commitment, for their commitment to the well-being of our town and its citizens.”
Ostenrieder left no doubt that Pankratia Holl was one of these people.
The circle of honorary recipients has now been expanded to include her.
A quarter of a century “ambassador for the farming community”
Freedom and individuality, love of humanity, optimism, attraction: To get to the heart of Holl's characteristics, the mayor used the description of the cypress tree from a Celtic tree horoscope.
The cypress tree represents a person who acts from the heart, loves life and sees the positive side - and whose birthday is at the end of January.
All of these points would apply to Pankratia Holl, said Ostenrieder.
Even the birthday.
Yesterday, Wednesday, the honoree turned 80 years old.
When she came to Peiting-Kurzenried as a farmer, Holl was involved in local events from the beginning, said Ostenrieder.
“For her, being a farmer was not a chore, but rather a life’s work and a matter of the heart.” From 1977 to 1997, Holl Peitinger was a local farmer and from 1987 to 2002 she was even deputy district farmer.
“All in all, she served as an ambassador for the farming community in our region for a quarter of a century,” praised the mayor.
In order to market the products of local farmers, Holl and Herwig Skalitza set up the Peitinger Farmers' Market.
This has taken place every month since 1993, almost for the 300th time.
And another anniversary is casting its shadows ahead, says Ostenrieder: the Peiting-Calvi town twinning is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.
Holl was also involved from the start.
In 1988 she was part of the first Peitingen visiting group for the Pankratius Festival - appropriately enough, St. Pankratius is the patron saint of Calvi - in Italy.
Since then she has been an important link in the partnership.
“Grazie mille, cara Pankratia,” Ostenrieder thanked her in Italian.
Holl was also able to achieve a lot as a municipal and district councilor.
She sat for the CSU parliamentary group on the Peitinger market town council for 36 years and on the district council for 24 years.
Holl was even pre-selected to the committee from the last place on the list, 60th.
“Such a result speaks volumes.”
Before accepting the medal, certificate and bouquet of flowers, the honoree also said a few words herself.
She modestly thanked the mayor and the local council, which she had always enjoyed being a part of.
Holl wished the committee continued good cooperation.
“And don’t leave too much room for party politics.”
