Bas Kast has revised and expanded “The Nutritional Compass”.

The new edition contains new nutritional rules and recipes.

Do you like to drink coffee or milk?

What is healthier?

Does a glass of red wine protect against heart disease?

Bestselling author Bas Kast has revised his standard work “The Nutritional Compass” in a new edition.

A new chapter has been added and in addition to the 12 most important rules of healthy eating, the book now also offers sample recipes.

Anyone who wants to deal with the topic of “healthy eating” cannot ignore this standard work and it belongs on every bookshelf.

The renowned author and science journalist Bas Kast suffered a collapse accompanied by chest pains when he was just 40 years old.

This event led to his decision to drastically change his eating habits.

He has worked through thousands of studies and identified the science-based facts about a healthy diet.

He presented these in an easy-to-understand form and achieved enormous success: Since its publication in 2018, the “Nutrition Compass” has been sold over a million times.

In his bestseller, Kast brings order to the chaos of diets, debunks myths about nutrition and explains the basic principles of a diet that protects us from diseases of old age and extends our lives.

This book is a unique summary of all scientific studies on nutrition and now contains a new chapter.

It talks about foods that can potentially improve your mood and gives example recipes.

The book is designed in two colors throughout and contains numerous illustrations.

Is coffee good?

If you look at statistics about who drinks the most coffee in the world, you will find that when it comes to per capita consumption, the Finns top the list with around 12 kilograms per capita per year, closely followed by Norway.

Bas Kast also dealt with coffee, tea, milk and alcohol in “The Nutritional Compass”.

What may come as a surprise here is that supposedly “healthy” milk doesn’t do so well and coffee ends up doing better.

His fluid and relaxed way of translating study results into understandable language and clearly summarizing them in diagrams does not make the book boring or “dry” in any way.

Scientific literature can be as exciting to read as a crime novel and can also be beneficial for your own health.

For further reading on healthy eating, Tim Spector's books “The Truth About Our Food” and “Food for Life” are worth a look.

“The Metabolism Compass” by Ingo Froböse also shows how nutrition can look healthy and balanced for everyone over 50.
