As expected, February started immersed in a
heat wave
within the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), which caused the National Meteorological Service
to raise the alert to orange
for this Thursday.
In the City, the thermometer will reach 36 degrees.
The high temperatures will be felt strongly throughout the country and only two provinces will not be affected.
The day in the Federal Capital and surrounding areas began with mostly cloudy skies, with winds from the western sector rotating towards the northeast since the afternoon and with an estimated temperature of
26 degrees minimum and 36 maximum.
Regarding the orange level established for that area, the official body warns that it can generate a "moderate to high effect on health", so the temperatures
"can be very dangerous, especially for risk groups."
In addition, compared to the beginning of this week,
the alert level was also raised to red for the south of the province of Buenos Aires
, which can "affect all people, even healthy ones."
This warning applies to the following locations: Bahía Blanca, Patagones, Villarino, Puan, Coronel Pringles, Coronel Suárez, Saavedra, Tornquist, Coronel Dorrego, Monte Hermoso, Adolfo Gonzalez Chaves, Lobería, San Cayetano, Tres Arroyos and Necochea.
The red level also affects the
entire province of Mendoza
and a large part of San Luis, San Juan, Neuquén and La Pampa.
Orange and yellow levels are predicted for the rest of the provinces, and only two provinces will not be affected today: Jujuy and Tierra del Fuego.
