The father of Ilaria Salis, a39-year-old Italian school teacher and anti-Fascist activist ontrial in Hungary for allegedly attacking two Hungarian neo-Nazisalmost a year ago, said Thursday that the family is his DeputyPremier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini for defamation.


   Footage this week of Salis with her hands and feet di lei chained during a court hearing in Budapest have caused a public outcry in Italy.


   The case is at the center of political row, with Salvini and his League party repeatedly criticizing the woman.


   Her father Roberto Salis said the family will take legal action over Salvini saying his daughter di lui was part of a group that damaged a gazebo used by right-wing League in Monza in February2017 and assaulted two young women present.


   Her lawyers said on Wednesday that Ilaria Salis had been acquired in relation to that case.


   "We will have Ilaria give us the appropriate power of attorneybecause, following the statements damaging her reputation withregard to the alleged assault on the League gazebo in Monza, wehave decided to sue Matteo Salvini for defamation," RobertoSalis told ANSA, adding that the family would also take legal action against two prominent Italian journalists, GiuseppeBrindisi and Alessandro Sallusti.


   On Earlier Thursday Salvini said that, if Salis is convicted, she should not be able to teach in Italy again.
