Inflation only increased by 3.1% over one year, according to the latest figures from INSEE, revealed Wednesday in an economic report.
This is significantly less than in December, when the price increase over one year then stood at 3.7%.
In any case, this confirms the decline in inflation, after a peak reached in February 2023 (+6.3% year-on-year).
If for an economist experienced in the exercise, reading the graph above does not present any particular difficulty, for many of us, it remains difficult to appreciate this confusing “decrease in the increase in prices” on a rolling year.
