After 19 years at the “Tagesschau”, Judith Rakers moderated her last edition of the news program on Wednesday evening (January 31st).

However, the ARD viewers do not say what happened next.

Update from February 1st:

Hamburg – Judith Rakers (48) celebrated her “Tagesschau” farewell in front of the cameras both soberly and professionally.

After a few short farewell words, the news anchor was surrounded by her team, chief spokesman Jens Riewa (60) and editor-in-chief Marcus Bornheim (50) presented her with two colorful bouquets of flowers, then the evening program continued in the first.

Away from the camera: This is how Judith Rakers' farewell was celebrated after the “Tagesschau”.

The audience didn't really see much of Judith Rakers' farewell.

He still delivered some emotional scenes, as

reports.

The 48-year-old, who has been running a self-catering farm on the outskirts of Hamburg for several years, received two trees from her colleagues for her home garden: an apple tree and a plum tree, which she also proudly showed on her Instagram profile.

The 48-year-old is said to have even cried when she saw the farewell gift.

But the evening was far from over: After the broadcast, we celebrated with around 70 colleagues with champagne and a cold buffet from the NDR canteen.

The television presenter herself had not attached any importance to a big celebration, as she had already explained in advance.

There was still a celebration – just within a comparatively manageable framework.

Judith Rakers' last “Tagesschau” broadcast: At the end there are flowers from Jens Riewa

First report from January 31st:

Since 2005 and therefore for almost 20 years, Judith Rakers has been the spokeswoman for the “Tagesschau”, whose main 8 p.m. edition she moderated for the first time on March 18th, 2008.

In mid-January she surprisingly announced that she wanted to leave the news program at the end of the current month.

On Wednesday evening, Rakers was given a warm farewell, although the ARD viewers didn't see much of it.

As usual, Judith Rakers hosted the ARD news program from 8:00 p.m. and then, as usual, led with contributions on domestic and non-political topics, including Holocaust Remembrance Day in the Bundestag and a prisoner exchange between Russia and Ukraine.

At 8:15 p.m., after the weather, the moment of farewell followed.

As previously announced, she celebrated it quite briefly and soberly: “And now, ladies and gentlemen, I would like to say goodbye very discreetly, because this is my last 'Tagesschau' broadcast today.

Thank you for letting me into your living room again and again over the last 19 years, and thank you to the best colleagues in the world.

Have a nice evening.

Bye!"

At the end of the program, ARD viewers saw “Tagesschau” chief spokesman Jens Riewa rush over, put a bouquet of flowers in his valued colleague’s hand and say goodbye to her with a warm hug in the presence of the rest of the editorial team.

However, how and whether the celebration continued afterwards remained hidden: the news program ended during the farewell scene, then the television continued seamlessly with the television film “Iceland”.
