Civil courage can be learned.

This is the astonishing result of a conference at the Evangelical Academy in Tutzing.

Tutzing

– Civil Courage – What’s that to me?

The Tutzing Evangelical Academy titled a weekend conference with this provocative question.

The answer to this should actually be: lots of them!

Because it's about mutual help in delicate situations that anyone can get into.

The most important conclusion after two days is probably: civil courage can be learned.

This doesn't require heroism, but it does require a sensitive reaction to injustice and threats, as well as listening and looking.

How to approach this and what can be done was presented by numerous organizations at a “market of possibilities”.

Among other things, it was about the commitment to democracy and against violence and the Day of Civil Courage on September 19th.

The clubs, organizations, networks and contact points at a glance

The Federal Network for Civil Courage is an interest group of clubs, institutions, foundations, organizations and people who are committed to respectful cooperation.

The program includes conferences, workshops and lectures.

A digital get-together and behavioral tips are intended to encourage citizens to show moral courage in everyday life.

Everything about this can be found at bundesnetzwerk-zivilcourage.de.

The specialist information center for right-wing extremism in Munich (firm) is part of the city's social department and sees itself as an information hub on questions about right-wing extremist organizations, structures and activities.

As part of the municipal network against right-wing extremism, contacts can be provided for all questions, help for those affected and help with projects, lectures and events.

The position is located at the Feierwerk association, www. Feierwerk.de/firm or www.089-gegen-rechts.de.

The Office for Democracy is also an institution of the state capital: It promotes activities and measures for the democratic community and campaigns against racism, anti-Semitism and other forms of group-related inhumanity.

An example: leaflets explain how to recognize problems, deal with them and what rights you have.

Advisory services are also available for schools.

Politicians, institutions and associations receive their tools here.

Cooperation partners can be found on the homepage www.stadt.muenchen.de/infos/fachstellefuerdemokratie.

“Munich is colorful!” is also one of the cooperation partners.

The association organizes initiatives and projects on site, goes to schools with its ideas and is known for its participation in numerous rallies.

The Long Night of Democracy always takes place on October 2nd: There is a wide scope for implementation here, especially for municipalities.

A separate training course has recently been offered for this purpose.

Lots of examples of how such a day can run and function can be found online at www.lndd.de.

In 1992, the Lichterkette association ensured that 400,000 people across Munich sent a shining example against racism.

Since then, the fields of action have changed, but not the goals.

There are projects for refugees.

There are also social and digital projects on the agenda, for schools and external projects, all on lichterkette.de.
