Three years ago, Hoffman eulogized his cousin, Pinchas Cohen, who was killed in an operation in Gush Katif in 2002, with words that became a chilling prophecy: "Days pass and turn into years, and you are here inside. We have a family and children, growing and maturing, and you are still in your twenties... more In a few hours we'll all be back to normal and you're here, under the stones."

Hoffman studied at the Or Torah Stone Neve Shmuel yeshiva and is the ninth to fall from the yeshiva.
