There was something for everyone at the community library's birthday party
Poing – 60 years old – and still attractive.
Not everyone can say that.
This is definitely the case at the Poing community library.
She's in even better shape for her 60th birthday - as evidenced by her range of reading material.
At a (belated) celebration on January 27, 2024, Second Mayor Reinhard Tonollo spoke to around 100 guests in the auditorium of the Karl Sittler School about “a perfect day to celebrate” and marked the 268th birthday (January 27, 1756 ) by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
He didn't have to go that far back in the library's career.
In November 1963 it was founded in the teaching material room of the old Karl Sittler School, in 1972 there were new rooms and a year later the switch to IT was made.
A library association with other district communities was joined in 2017 and in 2018 the new rooms at Marktstrasse 4 were moved into, where director Gertraud Bamberg borrows over 70,000 physical media on an annual average (this also includes CDs and games).
For their work and that of their employees, Reinhard Tonollo honored everyone with a bottle of olive oil from the partner community of Porec.
The evening was accompanied musically - music and poetry - by the Jonas Frank Trio.
There was also a reading of poems and short stories by Heinz Erhardt and Raffael Scherer (“Libraries are great”).
