Near Grasse, a pharmacist traps a repeat thief with empty boxes

On two occasions, two individuals of Georgian nationality managed to steal nearly 2,000 euros worth of cosmetic products from a pharmacy in Peymeinade, in the Alpes-Maritimes.

On two occasions, he had beauty products displayed on his shelves stolen.

The manager estimated the damage at nearly 2,000 euros, with each cosmetic cream costing between 60 and 80 euros.

It is these rather luxurious products that the two individuals were targeting.

Realizing that boxes were missing, the pharmacist scrupulously observed the video surveillance images and noticed that the thugs, in less than a minute, had managed to discreetly steal numerous products in turn. by slipping them into a bag.

Not to get a makeover, but to then resell them online or abroad.

Similar thefts had also been reported in other pharmacies on the Côte d'Azur, in Antibes and Roquefort-les-Pins.

They could be the same individuals, a police source tells us.

Faced with this phenomenon, the manager of the “Candeou” pharmacy decided to dispose of the empty boxes.

To obtain the creams, you had to ask for them directly at the checkout.

The same thieves tried their luck again last Friday, but this time they were caught in the act.

“This pharmacy is my life”

Finding no product inside the boxes, the thief wasted time looking for the object of his desire, which allowed the pharmacist to intervene.

The latter subsequently notified the gendarmes, who were thus able to arrest the suspect of Georgian nationality.

The latter was placed in police custody and will soon be tried at the Grasse court.

His sidekick managed to escape.

“This pharmacy is my life, I have twelve employees, they are like my children

,” explained the manager, at the head of this village pharmacy in the Grasse hinterland for 14 years.
